April 5th 2013 sees the release of the EP 'Brooklyn' by Poor Edward, recorded in Braund Sound studio in New York summer of 2012. This release is a step aside from the folk/americana-sound that mainly influenced their previous work. The harmonies, the lyrics and the acoustic guitars are still the most important elements in Poor Edwards music, but this time around there is room for something more as well, such as electronic elements, loops, programmed drums and synths. Poor Edward is the duo consisting of Martin and Kristian Tungland Rinde; two brothers from Stavanger, Norway. Writing and performing their own songs, Poor Edward can be classified as a mixture of pop and rock with notable folk/americana tendencies. Their trademark is a guitar and vocals sound, largely focused on lyrics and harmony. The music is melodious, sometimes melancholy, often understated and always authentic. The duo explores the unique dynamics that exist between brothers, for better or worse. Their work live and recorded bears witness to mature reflection and heartfelt emotion of their relationships. Poor Edward convey’s a sense of life's extremes; of grief, happiness – and hope. Spiced with a touch of dry humour, Poor Edward's music is personal and appealing, yet not invading. Their songs carry the sound of life lived, true stories told earnestly without affectation. When asked about their inspiration, the duo draws influence from artists such as The Everly Brothers via The Jayhawks to Beck and Calexico.
Since 2006, Poor Edward has completed several tours around Norway, both as an acoustic duo and with their backing band. The band has gained a solid and varied live experience through the years, having played over a hundred shows at all kinds of venues throughout Norway, including clubs, music halls and festivals. Poor Edward has also done several supporting gigs for well established artists like Lissie (US), Beach House (US) and norwegian artists like CC Cowboys and Ida Jenshus. They released their first full length album, 'Time Is Gonna Change You', in november 2011. The album was well received by music press and critics, leading to a broader span of attention. Several songs from the album also received considerable airplay on norwegian national radio. The release was followed by an extensive tour in January and February 2012.
Poor Edward has also released the EP's 'Summerrain' (2008) and 'Soldiers & Sundays' (2009).

NORWEGIAN BIO / INFO:
De slapp sitt debutalbum – 'Time Is Gonna Change You' – i november 2011.

RUNE LETRUD, MUSIKKBLOGGEN.NO

Elise Vatsvaag "Ooh La La" video

ELISE VATSVAAG - «Ooh La La» Video

Elise Vatsvaag´s new single «Ohh La La» will be released Friday 25. February. Check out the new video:

On dreary days when everything seems blasé, Elise Vatsvaag’s flirtatious voice and playful lyrics are a pick-me-up. The small-framed Norwegian singer-songwriter has been compared to Ingrid Michaelson and Katie Melua for her style and songwriting prowess, but her unique charm is the result of her innocent outlook on life and youthful zest. In 2009 Elise signed with the Norwegian management company Great Moments, and since then she has grown to be among one of the most interesting up-and-coming artists in the west coast area of Norway. In January 2011 Elise Vatsvaag moved to New York City in order to work on her debut album.
