“The Schlippenbach project is our first recording because we’ve had the luxury of working with him over a long period and it seemed natural and a good progression to record with him,” says Petter Frost Fadnes, who plays baritone in the Orchestra.
Formed in 2005, Kitchen Orchestra is a music collective built around 24 members of locally based improvisers exploring the improvisational relationship between the individual and the ensemble in the context of modern and jazz music.
“This is an interesting band,” says Schlippenbach. “They have unexpected instruments, such as accordion, keyboard and electronics which I love but have not worked with much in the past. This band has great musical potential!”
Starting at the beginning of 2010, Kitchen Orchestra began working with legendary German free jazz pianist/composer/band leader Alexander von Schlippenbach. From The Globe Unity Orchestra in 1966, to his trio with Evan Parker and Paul Lovens, Schlippenbach can well be called one of the biggest free jazz band leaders in improvisational music. His music mixes free and contemporary classical elements often using slashing solos as the link between the two elements in his compositions. In the context of Kitchen Orchestra this translates into an explosion of color and sound. So how did his connection with the Kitchen Orchestra come about?
“In 2009 I got an invitation to do a workshop with them,” Schlippenbach says. “I accepted because I am always interested in working with large ensembles and prepared my music in that direction. I took pieces from my own orchestra and I also arranged a few jazz pieces. I was quite surprised how flexible they are and they could play everything quite easily.”
By the time Schlippenbach arrived on the scene, the Kitchen Orchestra had been going for some five years. It was formed at the initiative of co-founders Petter Frost Fadnes, Didrik Ingvaldsen, Gunhild Seim and Nils Henrik Asheim, and was a creative response to bringing the very best of Stavanger’s musical community together in a collective, ongoing project,
“We could see the need for it,” says Frost Fadnes about the orchestra, “There was a community to build an orchestra – we kind of just did it, you get the right people in the room together and that’s an orchestra and that’s a concert, and off you go.”
They debuted the Schlippenbach project under Maijazz 2010 in Stavanger, Norway to surprising enthusiasm. Jazznytt called it a “transformative surprise of intellectual free jazz.” And in July 2011 they recorded their debut album with Schlippenbach at Nærlandsheimen Church/ Bekk Studio, with producer Ashley Stubbert (better known for more harder metal and rock acts such as Purified In Blood, and Helldorado but has a keen interest in improv.)
“This is a dynamic record! With a wide range of melodic, and compositional elements uniquely blended with free improv. Schlippenbach’s arrangments masterfully used the talents of such a diverse group of musicians to create a massive sound. A fantastic record to work on!” – Ashley Stubbert
Kitchen Orchestra with Alexander von Schlippenbach will be released to the digital world 1. November.
Release concert with Schlippenbach will be held under Kitchen Orchestras annual festival What’s Cooking 2-3 of November at Spor 5 in Stavanger

Sebastian Waldejer - "Battles EP" released 22. August 2013. Now available for streaming and download. Catalogue # CCAP173. A Sterk Film production Directed by Stian Kristiansen Photography - Arne Bru Haug Editor - Tommy Enervold Jørpeland Produced by Werner Andreassen. Even before releasing his debut album the then 24 years old Sebastian Waldejer was honored as the official "Artist Of The Year" by the culture council of his hometown Stavanger, Norway. The combination of well written lyrics, beautiful melodies and his DIY approach quickly established him as a talent to keep an eye on. After the well received release of his debut album "Rise Of The Urban Child", Sebastian toured Great Britain as support act for Thomas Dybdahl. After the tour Thomas invited Sebastian to join his regular band ("That Great October Sound") as a multi-instrumentalist. Sebastian decided to put his own gigging on hold to tour with Thomas and hone his skills as a musician and live performer. He never stopped writing music though, and in 2011 Sebastian released his new single "We Never Get Away Anymore", co-produced by Thomas Dybdahl. August 2013 Sebastian Waldejer releases the first of two EP's this fall. The theme of "Battles EP" are four love stories, from four very different individuals who all are battling their thoughts and emotions. The songs on the EP is set in a darker mood than Sebastian's previous releases. The darker mood is balanced by playfulness in the details and catchy melodies. The EP is produced by the artist himself, except "Stop Taking A Part", which was recored at Braund Studios (NYC) and produced by Caleb Lindskoog.
CCAP proudly presents exclusive Soundcloud prelisten of "Battles», a track from "Battles EP" (release 26. August 2013) by Norwegian artist Sebastian Waldejer
Sebastian has released two singles, two EP's, one album and a remix album collaboration with John Derek Bishop. His earlier offerings has seen him being compared with artists as varied as Radiohead, Prefab Sprout and John Cale. His 2012 single "We Never Get Away Anymore" (co-produced by Thomas Dybdahl) saw Sebastian take a slightly new direction. More up-tempo and, dare we say, "indie-pop" than his former releases. Energetic, melodic and melancholic are terms that can describe the music from Sebastian, who have been traveling around Europe and USA the last 3 years with Thomas Dybdahl , both as a support act and as a musician in his live-band "That Great October Sound". Sebastian Waldejer's releases are available as a digital download and streaming and on CD. The "We Never Get Away" single is also available on bandcamp as a beautiful 7" vinyl single including B-side "The Ocean Is Full Of tears" (Stumptown Printers Arigato cover, design and silkscreen printed by Kjetil Brandsdal) Sebastian Waldejer discography: "France EP" (2008)

FordRekord - Hei, e du min by?
Hei, e du min by?
- Og med det kan helgå bare begynna.

Releasedates: 19. April (Scandinavia) 29. April (Europe) 13. Mai (UK)
The release will be backed by a tour of both Norway and Europe. The new album is vintage Helldorado: It oozes of sorrow, sin, sex and pain, The band evokes the sensation of a burning sun on your neck, crunched sand between your teeth, a salty taste on your lips, a shaky finger on the trigger of a Colt 45, circling vultures silhouetted against a blue-white sky, a double whiskey on an empty stomach, and the smell of bacon, beans, gunpowder, leather & sweat. There is strong tradition of combining blues, country, rock and hardboiled crime. Murder, prison, crime, confession, remorse and punishment runs like a dark stream through the music of Johnny Cash, Tom Waits, Bob Dylan, Nick Cave and Stan Ridgeway among others. Helldorado brings this tradition into the new century. Heldorado gives you the music, colours, smells and atmosphere usually connected with the image of southern USA and Mexico. As on their previous albums Helldorado presents filmatic music inspired by Morricone and Tarrantino, epic and dramatic murder ballads, Americana, and Rock Noir. Strings and a horn section is added to spice it up. Under the open sky, the wide and burning hot desert landscapes, Helldorados faithless characters burn holes in their souls.
Poor Edward - new video and EP Brand new video from Poor Edward, produced by Koala Klan
The new EP, BROOKLYN, is released 5th April (digital/CD). Radiostations and media can download a track from the EP from iPluggersor get in touch with us at post [at] ccap [dot] com and we’ll mail you a link for download.
(scroll down for bio / info in Norwegian) April 5th 2013 sees the release of the EP 'Brooklyn' by Poor Edward, recorded in Braund Sound studio in New York summer of 2012. This release is a step aside from the folk/americana-sound that mainly influenced their previous work. The harmonies, the lyrics and the acoustic guitars are still the most important elements in Poor Edwards music, but this time around there is room for something more as well, such as electronic elements, loops, programmed drums and synths. Poor Edward is the duo consisting of Martin and Kristian Tungland Rinde; two brothers from Stavanger, Norway. Writing and performing their own songs, Poor Edward can be classified as a mixture of pop and rock with notable folk/americana tendencies. Their trademark is a guitar and vocals sound, largely focused on lyrics and harmony. The music is melodious, sometimes melancholy, often understated and always authentic. The duo explores the unique dynamics that exist between brothers, for better or worse. Their work live and recorded bears witness to mature reflection and heartfelt emotion of their relationships.
Poor Edward convey’s a sense of life's extremes; of grief, happiness – and hope. Spiced with a touch of dry humour, Poor Edward's music is personal and appealing, yet not invading. Their songs carry the sound of life lived, true stories told earnestly without affectation. When asked about their inspiration, the duo draws influence from artists such as The Everly Brothers via The Jayhawks to Beck and Calexico. Since 2006, Poor Edward has completed several tours around Norway, both as an acoustic duo and with their backing band. The band has gained a solid and varied live experience through the years, having played over a hundred shows at all kinds of venues throughout Norway, including clubs, music halls and festivals. Poor Edward has also done several supporting gigs for well established artists like Lissie (US), Beach House (US) and norwegian artists like CC Cowboys and Ida Jenshus. They released their first full length album, 'Time Is Gonna Change You', in november 2011.
The album was well received by music press and critics, leading to a broader span of attention. Several songs from the album also received considerable airplay on norwegian national radio. The release was followed by an extensive tour in January and February 2012. Poor Edward has also released the EP's 'Summerrain' (2008) and 'Soldiers & Sundays' (2009). Discography: • Summerrain (EP 2008)
• Soldiers & Sundays (EP 2009)
• Look To The Sky (7'' single 2011)
• Time Is Gonna Change You (Album 2011)
• Keeping Track (single 2012) • Brooklyn (EP 2013)
De slapp sitt debutalbum – 'Time Is Gonna Change You' – i november 2011.

(scroll down for info in Norwegian) “I Don't Like You”, with its explicit title, is a (provokingly) catchy pop-tune from Elise Vatsvaag within the genre of indiepop/electronica. For the first time ever, Vatsvaag has worked with producer and fellow band member Simen Ytre-Arne, and together they have created a vibrant soundscape with tasteful references. The song is loaded with subtle hooks, and while “I Don't Like You” proves to to be the most upbeat single from Vatsvaag so far, it still strikes a melancholic tone – a seemingly familiar feature in Vatsvaag's music. Norwegian artist Elise Vatsvaag has created her own original and captivating sound while rubbing sonic shoulders with the likes of Swedish heroines such as Lykke Li, Veronica Maggio and Robyn. Elise’s collection of songs «This Is Not My Music» was released throughout 2012, and offered a glimpse of this young singer-songwriter’s burgeoning talents. The freshly baked 2013-single «I Don't Like You» proves that Vatsvaag has barely just begun.

Norwegian singer-songwriter Elise Vatsvaag has created her own original and captivating sound while rubbing sonic shoulders with the likes of Lykke Li, Veronica Maggio and Robyn. Elise’s collection of songs «This Is Not My Music» was released throughout 2012, offering a glimpse of this young singer-songwriter’s burgeoning talents.
Elise Vatsvaag started her musical career at the age of 17. She received attention for a song she wrote with legendary songwriter James T. Slater in 2010, «Ooh La La», and the song playlisted on the biggest national radio in Norway for three months the following year. “This was a wonderful learning experience,” Elise recalls, “but it was when I spent five months in New York City last year (2011) that I started to move towards this new artistic direction.”
After returning from New York, Elise spent 4 months in the studio recording new material with producer Ashley Stubbert in her hometown of Stavanger. «This Is Not My Music», is a collection of 8 songs, which was released throughout 2012. A new song was released on the 10th of every month on elisevatsvaag.com, all tracks was available for a free download. Every fourth single was followed by an EP collection of the singles, digitally available everywhere.
«This Is Not My Music» is a concept recognizing the fact that music will eventually go free. Free, however, is only part of the business model. By unshackling her music and giving it away for free, Elise is using one product to add value to other products. As many artists have proven before her; free music helps generate interest in concerts and merchandise, the more people talk about the music increases the bands profile in turn receiving more marketing and licensing possibilities. To be recognized in a fast growing digital market artists need to find smart ways to spread good, relevant songs in the most efficient way. «This Is Not My Music» is Elise's solution.

Elise talks about the new single: "After the Storm" is the seventh single in the series "This Is Not My Music". This one is a little different. When I started working in the studio with Ashley a year ago, "After the Storm" didn't exist. We had picked seven songs and were working on them in their barest form, when Ashley said that the only thing that was missing was a slow song. And by slow, he meant super slow. I figured he wanted to give me a challenge, and I decided I was going to take it. It took me a few days to finish the song. When I got back in the studio we recorded a sketch, and the next day we made the complete version. This was actually the very first song we finished. It was pouring outside while we recorded the guitar parts, and some construction builders were working right outside the studio. You can actually hear traces of it in the song, if you listen carefully. "After the Storm" is different, but I am still very honored and proud to be able to release a song like this. I hope you will like it as well. Sincerely, Elise.." Check out all the singles released in the «This Is Not My Music» project so far:

CCAP proudly presents, all the way from Mumbai, India: DUNCUN RUFUS. Carte Blanche album release Friday 12. October
Carte Blanche is singer and songwriter Lima Yanger’s (Sleeping Buddha, Bliss Logic) third album, the first to be released as Duncun Rufus. The album will be released by Norwegian label CCAP (Checkpoint Charlie Audio Productions) in close cooperation with the band and Times Music India. The band line up features Lima Yanger on vocals and guitar, Gaute Johannesen of Popface (Norway) on drums and the rest of this stellar ensemble sees JD on Bass (KK, Ashu, Bliss Logic), Hitesh Dhutia (Junkt, Sleeping Buddha, Contraband, Rajiv Raja combine) and Vinay Lobo (Airport) on guitars.
Duncun Rufus makes soulful music. The album features crisp contemporary pop-folk rock songs with foot tapping beats and catchy hook lines. The essence of the songs are about holding on to hope and devotion and balancing betrayal and desire in troubled times- the drama of good vs. evil that lies in us all.
Lima Yanger says the seeds of this album and project was planted after a “not so modest beer drinking session” with Gaute and Hitesh back in the summer of 2009. The idea was planted and it stayed that way until 2010.
Early 2010 witnessed jam sessions and “rough sketches of rough tracks”. The summer of 2011 finally saw the emergence of Carte Blanche, “I locked myself away for a month and ended up writing about 15 songs, 7 made the album” says Lima Yanger. There are no carbon copies or contrived sounds in this album, "The emphasis was solely about writing songs rather than composing technique laden musical pieces, and playing fresh music”.
«Home» is the sixth installment in Elise Vatsvaag´s ongoing project «This Is Not My Music». Through 2012 Elise will release eight FREE singles on her website www.elisevatsvaag.com On the 10th of every month a new single will be available for free download, streaming and sharing through her website. Elise talks about the new single: I am so pleased to introduce the sixth release of the This Is Not My Music-series, «Home». I wrote this song in my apartment in Brooklyn last year, right before I was about to head back home to Norway. I was feeling excited, sad and nervous at the time. Excited because I was going home to see all my friends and family, sad because I was about to end the greatest journey of my life (so far), nervous because I wondered what kind of expectations people would have. I'd been living in New York for six months, writing and composing new songs, and I sure hoped that people would be interested to hear them. One of the lines in the song goes «What will they think, will they mind, will they even notice». By returning to Norway, I was about to burst the bubble I'd been living in. It was time to bring all of my songs to life, and it felt so good and so nerve wrecking at the same time.
I used my Baby Taylor-guitar when we recorded this song, which is the very first guitar I ever bought. The drums is played by Ole Tollefsen, the bass is played by Simen Ytre-Arne and the rest is done by Ashley Stubbert (the producer) and myself. We also drank a lot of tea during this particular recording. I hope you will enjoy it. Check out all the singles released in the «This Is Not My Music» project so far:

DEATHBARREL - Merciless Winds (CCAP144) Release Friday 7. September
DEATHBARREL - ENGLISH BIO(Scroll down for bio in Norwegian)
Singer and songwriter Ottar B. Stangeland (of the notorious punkrock outfit Haggis) fronts Deathbarrel, a project that was born while Ottar was serving 90 days in prison, having nothing better to do than writing country songs.
Norwegian outlaw country music springs out of the Old Norse berserker genes. It is raw, uncut, masculine. It is the music of men who only have one flask of cologne, used only for weddings and for mother’s birthday, it is the music of men without handbags, men who like to fish and hunt. Deathbarrel is the sound of wrenches and motor oil, of Saturday night beers and truckstops, of longing and loss, of late evenings and aching muscles, of endless roads and shore leave, of the dreams of freedom that all and any working man feels deep in his soul.
Grits and stale sandwiches, phone calls that were never returned, funerals you were too far away from, friends found and friends lost, outlaw country is the music of the harsh reality of life, it is the sound of plain saying, of the ugly sides of life that cannot be ignored. It is a self-confident snarl at conventions, at authority, at all and any that defines and confines life to what mainstream society wants it to be. It is rebel music.
Deathbarrel is The Truth. Play it loud.
“Ottar’s voice is deep as a coal mine and his songs echo like a silver dagger thrown at a speeding train. Amazing stuff.” -Rennie Sparks (Handsome Family) “I could easily see Ottar in a cowboy bar, making the biggest 10 gallon hat wearing son of a bitch, tear for his mama” -Tim Morse (Anal Cunt) “My dad likes this!” Wattie Buchan (The Exploited)

DEATHBARREL - NORSK BIOGRAFI
Deathbarrel snakker sant. Spill musikken deres så høyt du kan. Og gi faen i hva dama di sier om den.
“Ottar’s voice is deep as a coal mine and his songs echo like a silver dagger thrown at a speeding train. Amazing stuff.” - Rennie Sparks (Handsome Family) “My dad likes this!”

*1980: Motorhead slipper "Ace Of Spades", Mark David Chapman skyter John Lennon og Ottar B. Stangeland blir født.
JORUNN HODNE - «Here She Goes Again» - New single! (scroll down for info in Norwegian)
Jorunn Hodne is releasing a new single "Here She Goes Again" from her upcoming album «Move On». The B-side is a bonus version featuring Slim-B rapping 16 beats straight from the heart.Hodne and Slim-B have never collaborated before and met for the first time when Slim-B came to rap in the studio. Through a mutual friend, he heard a mix of the track and immediately felt the urge to tell his version.
The new album: Move On
This is popmusic, "Eclectic Pop" with elements of soul, rock and jazz, with a definitive edge to upset the sweetness. The musical atmosphere is argued with lyrics where joy, tenderness, irritation, satisfaction, and inadequacy are among the topics. Alf Terje Hana's initiatives and brutal ravaging with his guitar mixed with Arne Hovda's playful keyboard and harmonic piano chords gives the music a wonderful nerve. Refined, raw and sensual are superlatives frequently used describing Jorunn’s voice. It’s in contrast to Ingvill Bjorland’s sweet harmonies but together they have a spicy, rough and catchy sound. Kurt Lisø beats both soft and hard and ruthless, while Eivind Hodne adds weight and pulse with his double bass. Together, the rhythm section forms a base that gives the music a burlesque character.
On the producer side, both Arne Hovda and Hans Ole Kristiansen helped create Jorunn Hodne's musical universe.
Jorunn Hodne's debut album "Trespassing" (2010) was described as "burlesque pop" and "vintage pop" with references to Shirley Bassey, Amy Winehouse, Eartha Kitt and Grace Jones
NORWEGIAN bio / info: Jorunn Hodne slipper singel med god gammeldags A og B side. I forkant av sitt album ”Move On” som slippes lørdag 8. september gir hun nå ut singelen ”Here She Goes Again”.

Elise talks about the new single: Already Gone was written along with my friend Paul F. Johannessen in New York City about a year ago. The truth is I've had my ups and downs with this song. The lyrics are describing some of the inside struggles I was having right after moving to New York. I was alone and somewhat confused. It is true what they say - a big city can indeed make you feel very small. I was having some difficulties as far as relating to the city, and I was also having doubts about my music. I needed to figure out a way to approach this whole new situation, and it wasn't going too well. At least not while I was writing this song. I wrote all the verses in New York, and I went home without a chorus. Even though I eventually figured out a solution to my problems and was feeling very much at ease, the song was still a dark piece at this point.
I wrote a new chorus in the studio with Ashley a few months later (the producer), and we recorded a new demo of it. Suddenly there was a shred of hope. The chorus added exactly what the song needed - light, hope, positivity, energy and guts. The darkness and the light went perfectly together. I wanted to record it, and I wanted to share it. So here it is. To you from my bare hands.

Norwegian singer-songwriter Elise Vatsvaag has created her own original and captivating sound while rubbing sonic shoulders with the likes of Lykke Li, Veronica Maggio and Robyn. Elise’s collection of songs «This Is Not My Music» will be released throughout 2012, offering a glimpse of this young singer-songwriter’s burgeoning talents.
"This Is Not My Music #1" is a collection of the first four singles Elise released in 2012.
«This Is Not My Music», is a collection of 8 songs, which will all be released throughout 2012. A new song will be released on the 10th of every month on www.elisevatsvaag.com, all tracks will be available for a free download. Every fourth single is followed bu an EP collection of the singles, digitally available everywhere.
The first song from the collection, «Safe Play», was released February 10th. “Safe Play” is a delightfully catchy confession, delivered with Elise’s signature carefree shrug and a smile. The thrilling combination of conventional pop rock instrumentation accompanied by strings and a sprinkling of electronica gives Elise a fresh individual sound. The day after releasing the song on her home page, Elise was made «Artist of the Week» by the biggest talent-scout radio show in Norway, NRK Urørt, confessing the following: «With well appropriated melodic hooks, a charming voice and a solid production, Elise Vatsvaag is one of the most exciting new pop artists Urørt has heard in a long time.»
The second single, “Vena Amoris”, was released March 10th. “It’s been a while since I’ve posted some straight up female singer/songwriter stuff, so I’m excited to have stumbled upon a goodie last weekend in Elise Vatsvaag. Vatsvaag, out of Norway, is releasing a new (free) song on the 10th of every month for her album, This Is Not My Music. I took a strong liking to her March single, “Vena Amoris (...) Vatsvaag has a youthful, precious voice” (www.knoxroad.com)
The third single, “Neighboorhood” was released April 10th. “Look at this pretty Norwegian lady singer, and listen to the equally pretty pop tune that she’s just made (...) a bright and cheerful song with a delightfully sunny disposition" (www.scandipop.co.uk). Leading up to this particular release Elise ran a competition called «This Is Not My Art Work», asking people to send her a photo of their best childhood memory to her Facebook. In under two weeks she received more than 70 photos!

Elise Vatsvaag tells us about her latest single:
I can’t believe I’m about to release a fourth single! 4 songs have been released, which basically means I’m halfway through the «This Is Not My Music» project. That is undeniably a fact that makes me feel tingly with joy and excitement. I am also very excited about this fourth single «The Night That I Let Go». Please allow me to explain why. «The Night That I Let Go» is what I would like to call a «travelling tune». It first came to life during a Songwriter’s Circle, which is like a songwriting retreat where you meet up with different writers from across the world and make music together. In 2009 I paired up with Greg Holden, Jeff Cohen and Christian Ingebrigtsen – three excellent writers and amazing people. We wrote a funny song about drinking too much and partying too hard. It was great fun, but I never thought of either performing or recording the song. It was…well, a little over the edge. I could not, however, get some of the lyrical and melodic parts out of my head. In the Summer of 2011 I was going over some old piano tracks that my friend and piano player Paul Fredrik Johannessen had sent me. I found a clip that I immediately fell in love with, and for some reason it made me think of the song I wrote back in 2009 with the boys. I called Paul and arranged a writing session with him. We jammed for a couple of hours, kept some of the melodies and lyrics from the session in 2009, and re-wrote a few things. Suddenly we had a song that sounded great. We called it «The Night That I Let Go». Technically speaking it took three years, five writers, two pianos, two guitars, two cities and two sessions to write this song. Phew. I really hope you will like it. I also wanted to let you know that on June 10th I’m releasing «This Is Not My Music EP#1», which holds the first four songs, «Safe Play», «Vena Amoris», «Neighborhood» and «The Night That I Let Go», and maybe also a surprise. You’ll have to buy it to find out. YES, buy! For the first time I’m asking for a price. For four months I’ve been giving my music away for free. On June 10th I’m releasing the first of two EP’s on iTunes and other digital stores. For those reading this, I hope you got a chance to download all the songs for free. If not, now there’s always a chance to get a hold of them.

KJELL REIANES - ALDRI FOR SEINT (CD / digital album)
Released by: CCAP / CMMCD Release/catalogue number: CCAP141 Release date: Jan 13, 2012
