"Dear friends. So it has come to this. The final song from the "This Is Not My Music"-series - "December" - is out. It all started on February 10th earlier this year, and today, on November 10th, I've officially completed the project. "This Is Not My Music" has brought me so much joy and excitement, and I genuienly hope that it has brought you some joy and excitement as well. It's been a good year and I want to thank you so much for being a part of this journey. On December 10th, I am releasing "This Is Not My Music - EP#2", holding the last four songs of the series: "Already Gone", "Home", "After the Storm" and, of course, "December". Until then, enjoy the winter and eat plenty of oranges. Thanks, Elise" Check out all the singles released in the «This Is Not My Music» project so far:

Elise talks about the new single: "After the Storm" is the seventh single in the series "This Is Not My Music". This one is a little different. When I started working in the studio with Ashley a year ago, "After the Storm" didn't exist. We had picked seven songs and were working on them in their barest form, when Ashley said that the only thing that was missing was a slow song. And by slow, he meant super slow. I figured he wanted to give me a challenge, and I decided I was going to take it. It took me a few days to finish the song. When I got back in the studio we recorded a sketch, and the next day we made the complete version. This was actually the very first song we finished. It was pouring outside while we recorded the guitar parts, and some construction builders were working right outside the studio. You can actually hear traces of it in the song, if you listen carefully. "After the Storm" is different, but I am still very honored and proud to be able to release a song like this. I hope you will like it as well. Sincerely, Elise.." Check out all the singles released in the «This Is Not My Music» project so far:

Elise talks about the new single: I am so pleased to introduce the sixth release of the This Is Not My Music-series, «Home». I wrote this song in my apartment in Brooklyn last year, right before I was about to head back home to Norway. I was feeling excited, sad and nervous at the time. Excited because I was going home to see all my friends and family, sad because I was about to end the greatest journey of my life (so far), nervous because I wondered what kind of expectations people would have. I'd been living in New York for six months, writing and composing new songs, and I sure hoped that people would be interested to hear them. One of the lines in the song goes «What will they think, will they mind, will they even notice». By returning to Norway, I was about to burst the bubble I'd been living in. It was time to bring all of my songs to life, and it felt so good and so nerve wrecking at the same time.
I used my Baby Taylor-guitar when we recorded this song, which is the very first guitar I ever bought. The drums is played by Ole Tollefsen, the bass is played by Simen Ytre-Arne and the rest is done by Ashley Stubbert (the producer) and myself. We also drank a lot of tea during this particular recording. I hope you will enjoy it. Check out all the singles released in the «This Is Not My Music» project so far:

DEATHBARREL - Merciless Winds (CCAP144) Release Friday 7. September
DEATHBARREL - ENGLISH BIO(Scroll down for bio in Norwegian)
Singer and songwriter Ottar B. Stangeland (of the notorious punkrock outfit Haggis) fronts Deathbarrel, a project that was born while Ottar was serving 90 days in prison, having nothing better to do than writing country songs.
Norwegian outlaw country music springs out of the Old Norse berserker genes. It is raw, uncut, masculine. It is the music of men who only have one flask of cologne, used only for weddings and for mother’s birthday, it is the music of men without handbags, men who like to fish and hunt. Deathbarrel is the sound of wrenches and motor oil, of Saturday night beers and truckstops, of longing and loss, of late evenings and aching muscles, of endless roads and shore leave, of the dreams of freedom that all and any working man feels deep in his soul.
Grits and stale sandwiches, phone calls that were never returned, funerals you were too far away from, friends found and friends lost, outlaw country is the music of the harsh reality of life, it is the sound of plain saying, of the ugly sides of life that cannot be ignored. It is a self-confident snarl at conventions, at authority, at all and any that defines and confines life to what mainstream society wants it to be. It is rebel music.
Deathbarrel is The Truth. Play it loud.
“Ottar’s voice is deep as a coal mine and his songs echo like a silver dagger thrown at a speeding train. Amazing stuff.” -Rennie Sparks (Handsome Family) “I could easily see Ottar in a cowboy bar, making the biggest 10 gallon hat wearing son of a bitch, tear for his mama” -Tim Morse (Anal Cunt) “My dad likes this!” Wattie Buchan (The Exploited)

DEATHBARREL - NORSK BIOGRAFI
Deathbarrel snakker sant. Spill musikken deres så høyt du kan. Og gi faen i hva dama di sier om den.
“Ottar’s voice is deep as a coal mine and his songs echo like a silver dagger thrown at a speeding train. Amazing stuff.” - Rennie Sparks (Handsome Family) “My dad likes this!”

*1980: Motorhead slipper "Ace Of Spades", Mark David Chapman skyter John Lennon og Ottar B. Stangeland blir født.

ENGLISH: "Heftige Ting" means something like "passionately appealing". These songs and rhythms are made to have that effect on you. "Grønn Tê" is a bunch of musicians from Stavanger, Norway. Together they made this music, using banjos, acoustic guitars, mighty trumpets and all kinds of assorted gadgets. The words are sung in the local tongue of their area and they tell stories of foggy swamps, owls hunting, cold and wet nights of apparition and the crossing of blue mountains. All this to rhythms based on reggae as played in the coastal regions of western Norway.
The album is available on streaming and download services now, and will be available as CD and VINYL through local stores (Stavanger area) and on Bandcamp this coming week.
Look To The Sky is the first single from the album Time Is Gonna Change You (release November 2011) by Poor Edward. The single is produced by Ashley Stubbert. In addition to the digital release the single is also available as limitied edition vinyl 7" including b-side Power Of The Gospel (by Ben Harper) on Bandcamp. Poor Edward is a duo consisting of Martin and Kristian Tungland Rinde; two brothers from Stavanger, Norway. Writing and performing their own songs, Poor Edward can be classified as a mixture of pop and rock with notable folk tendencies. Their trademark is a guitar and vocals sound, largely focused on lyrics and harmony. The music is melodious, sometimes melancholy, often understated and always authentic.
A few months ago Sebastian Waldjer released his brilliant new single «We Never Get Away Anymore». This week we stumbled upon a great new track by the US band Real Estate. These two tracks are amazingly similar. We doubt either of these artists have heard about each other before these tracks where released and that it is all a coincidence. It´s a small world after all? (™Disney) Whats your opinion?
Brand new video: Sebastian Waldejer - «We Never Get Away Anymore»
The new single from Sebastian Waldejer is now available through Bandcamp. The single, We Never Get Away Anymore / The Ocean Is Full Of Tears, is available as a limited edition 7» single wrapped in a beautiful Stumptown Printers Arigato cover, handprinted by Kjetil Brandsdal. The single is co-produced by Thomas Dybdahl. The vinyl single also includes a three track download (the original vinylmix of the tracks on the 7» + a new digital mix of the title track by Jørgen Træen from Duper Studio in Bergen). You can also choose to skip the vinyl (but why would you want to?) and opt for the digital download package. The B-side and new digital mix is only available as a bundle/package deal on Bandcamp, these two track can´t be bought separately.
The digital mix of the title track is also available through iTunes, Spotify, Amazon etc
SKANKSTERS´ FIRST PROMO EP (1995) - Free Download!
Digging through the archives we found a copy of Skankster´s very first demo recording from 1995. Some of the tracks were later re-recorded and released on the «Shaven Not Stirred" CD (CCAP012000 - 2000) and "This Man EP" CDEP (CCAP023 - 2003). Other tracks are harder to come by, released on vinyl singles and cd ep´s that are out of print.
A few words about "Boot Boy": The track was written as a reaction to the neo-nazi "Boot Boys" group that was active in Norway at the time. The song is a stand against all hate-based ideologies and -isms. The intro is borrowed from Charlie Chaplins "The Great Dictator». The original version of the "Boot Boy" track with the Charlie Chaplin intro is only available on this promo recording.
Feel free to share and download the tracks. Check out the "Shaven Not Stirred" album and "This Man EP" as well as the more recent "Life Is Here Today" single on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, Wimp, etc
FordRekord released their debutalbum «Perler for svin» in January this year. This week they release a brand new single that was not included on the album, «Øyeblikket».
A wide rock'n'roll canvas mounted on musical hooks including Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, The Doors, 16 Horsepower and Madrugada (...) excellent rock noir" Tom Skjeklesæther (ABC News)
"The result is often shockingly good songs (...) Right In Front Of You and She Wouldn't Let Me Drown are amongthe best I've heard in years" Egon Holstad (Nordlys)
"brilliantly executed and thus allowed to enjoy. As a good bourbon in the twilight on a threadbare hotel room. "Stein Østbø (VG)
"" Dead Man's Gold "is perfect for two uses: a long drive across the American prairie, or a lonely night in a comfy chair with a bottle of whiskey in your hand. For all other uses, the Brigades debut album is just very, very good. All in all, this record is something you think you may have heard before, but so good that one does not feel that it is not worth hearing again " Tore Friestad (Studvest)
"This is good. This is really good. Dark rock 'n roll which to slips right into the soul and stays there" Elin M. Dahl (Rockblogg.no)
"Opener" Italian Curse” would fit right in with the opening credits in a violent americana flick by Quentin Tarantino or Robert Rodriguez (...)" Frank Johnsen (Bergens Tidende)
"With lyrics abut life on the dark side, this is a very listenable album (...) The Brigade manage to stand out from the crowd. Much thanks to (vocalist) Fiskå, but also his team of high quality muscicians "Sven Erik Loberg (Hamar Arbeiderblad)
"Dark and powerful cowboy-rock. This is restless music for riding into the sunset. "Take care of your mother, son ..." "Per Kristian Hansen (Østlendingen)
"Sometimes it smells Nick Cave, often Madrugada, sometimes more country or folk. The single "We all fall down" is an example of the bands potentional, with its catchy melody and creepy mood. "Robert Hoftun Gjestad (Aftenposten) Reviews (in Norwegian only). Låtene Right In Front Of You og She Wouldn’t Let Me Down er noe av det beste jeg har hørt i år.” Egon Holstad, Nordlys
Elin Mariel Dahl – Rockblogg.no
Et widescreen rock’n’roll-lerret som er spent opp på musikalske knagger som Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds, The Doors, 16 Horsepower og Madrugada. (...)
Titlene på sangene her gir en god pekepinn på de alt annet enn lystelige temaene som behandles; «Italian Curse», «We All Fall Down» (se video nederst i artikkelen), «Funeral Moon», «Don’t Be Afraid To Touch The Ground» og «She Wouldn’t Let Me Drown» (...)
The Brigade klarer likevel å skille seg ut i mengden.
«Take care of your mother, son…»”
(...) Som eg skreiv innleiingsvis. Fantastisk bra! Firdaposten

PHAT - PHAT EP hardcore psychotic stonerrock punk metal The hardcore stonerrock band known as PHAT was first conceived in 2006 when guitar strangler Benjamin Waldejer hooked up with his longtime friend and partner in crime, drummer Marius Grøtte. They started off jamming in the attic of a nearby mental institution, where Marius was employed at the time. There they spent their evenings combining their musical preferences into what has come to be known as THE PHATNESS. They both have the same perception of what music to play and always focus on heavy guitar riffs over pounding drum grooves. For the next two years the band played as an instrumental duo, playing gigs in and around Stavanger. During this two year period they also recorded their live instrumental album «Live@Orre» which was previously available at their MySpace page. In the early spring of 2008 they asked their old friend and notorious hardcore poet, Øyvind Munthe, if he would consider doing some vocals with the duo. It was a perfect match and ever since the frantic screams, microphone abuse and aggressive flows have complemented the massive sound of PHAT. Since then they've played gigs wherever and whenever, ranging from the hardest rock venues to private parties and openair events. No matter where they play they always deliver the distinct sound that is ferocious and Phat. The band started the recordings of their debut EP the summer of 2009 Released by: CCAP Release/catalogue number: CCAP109 Release date: Jun 12, 2010 ISRC: NO-2FR-10-01010
